John Rhodes has family all around him in his single room above the Frankton Hotel. They’re there in the smiley face stickers bought for him by his grandkids, plastered on his stereo and around his TV in cheerful yellow. They’re similarly there in the motor racing caps that line the wall. He’s looking forward to a trip to Palmy in February, two days of stock car racing with family.
